Hi,

I am developing a game using the Panda3d.org engine (the engine Disney used for Toon Town and Pirates of the Caribbean) and I am interested in using your content packs. Has anyone had success using your models/content packs with this engine? I know Panda3d has a pipeline for converting models created in: 3D Studio, Maya, Blender, Softimage, Milkshape 3D, GMax, and some other extensions like *.lwo, *.dxf, *.flt, *.vrml, and *.x

Thanks,
Daniel.

Sorry Daniel, I never used Panda3D before I and don't know if there are some compatibility issues.
Which pack are you interested in?

I am creating an FPS game so the proto pack is the one I am most interested in at the moment. I am in need of well rigged characters and environment elements to match.

I am sure I could find uses for all of the packs down the road.

BTW: I can export pretty much anything from Blender to be used in panda. So if you have a file type that imports well into blender, we might be able to have a Rube Goldberg method for using your content with the panda3d engine.

I decided to take a chance and see if I could make the models in the ProtoPack work. I imported the FBX files into Maya but the textures are not working out of the box. I am trying to go through all the frames of animation for the Character284 model but it is kinda difficult to know what frames are for which animations. Do you have a list of the animations and frame numbers somewhere? (it could be in this mysterious .unitypackage file. So far I have found:

Stand: 1-32
Run: 33-48
Jump: 49-52
Strafe Right: 53-60
StrafeL: 61-68

I will be able to get these models to work with the Panda3D engine it will just take some work to clean them up and fix the textures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel.

zombi_walk   106-145      (loop)

Thank you for your support.

Frame Numbers:
Your frame numbers are very different than mine. I am new to Maya and when I imported the FBX files they only appear to have 32 frames. If i set the amount of frames higher I can see all of the animations. I expect that the difference in frame numbers is due to your Maya using a different frames per second for animations than the maya default. I have not found this setting yet.

I could also use the frame numbers for the hen.

Textures:
When I attempted to use the FBXConverter from Autodesk (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=10775855) to convert the models to 3DS I get the following error:

Unable to locate texture file "C:\Users\frogames\frogames\CPs\prototypePack\textures\tiles\tile_04.png".

It appears that the textures are referenced using full paths instead of paths relative to where the model file is.I expect this is the reason why none of the models appear textured in Maya, I do not have a user called frogames.

I will probably need to write a script to replace "C:\Users\frogames\frogames\CPs\prototypePack\" with "../"

Other:
It would be most helpful if you included your ma or mb files to make everything easier to edit. (MA would probably be best, just a guess, I don't really know)

Is there a death animation for the character? I saw there is a gun model, does the character have a shooting animation?

I know this is alot of information and I appreciate your help with any of it.

- Daniel.

>>>I expect that the difference in frame numbers is due to your Maya using a different frames per second for animations than the maya default.

I used 3DS Max, and it looks like the default value is 30 frames per second.

>>>It appears that the textures are referenced using full paths instead of paths relative to where the model file is.I expect this is the reason why none of the models appear textured in Maya, I do not have a user called frogames.

My mistake! I will fix that for the next update.
If you own a copy of 3DS Max, I can send you the source files. If not, I'm going to fix that. Can you post a list of the meshes that have to be fixed?

>>>Is there a death animation for the character? I saw there is a gun model, does the character have a shooting animation?

No death and no shooting animations.

I have not gone over all of the meshes so I cannot tell you which need to be fixed. I know the trees did not work for me. If you can send me the source files that would be very helpful, especially for the meshes with animations.

Thanks again for your help!

*BUMP*

It  has been over two weeks since I have heard anything on this. Is it possible for you to send me the source files for at least the hen and character?

Thanks,
Daniel.
